Scott Roe BSc (Hons) AMRSB

Senior Ecologist

 Scott is an ecological consultant with more than 30 years of business and project management experience in multiple sectors. He has extensive ecological experience both in the field and as a team builder, manager, report writer and ecological analyst.

A formulative career in the IT sector gave Scott insights into digital systems, energy flows and the design of low friction and super-efficient networks which he has transferred into his ecological practice.  

Scott is a keen advocate of regenerative design and deep ecology which he believes can be combined with rapid utilization of digital technology to solve some of our greatest existential problems. Scott is heavily involved in using regenerative practice to create immersive and ecologically resilient closed-loop systems. 

Scott is the founder of The Green Phoenix, a not-for-profit organization that for more than 15 years has focused on ecological outreach, scientific studies, therapeutic outdoor experiences, and practical regenerative land management.

Stuart Piner BSc (hons)

Ornithologist – Sub-team leader

 Stuart has worked as a freelance ornithologist since graduating in Ecology from the University of East Anglia in 2006. Through working on a diverse array of projects, including Basic Payment Scheme applications, landfill extensions, power station developments, species-specific conservation projects, oil industry installations, transport network developments and over 30 wind energy projects,  Stuart has amassed a wealth of experience in ecological survey techniques, which complements his knowledge gained from being a life-long birder.

Stuart caught the birding bug when he made regular visits to Leighton Moss RSPB with his father, and in the years that followed he travelled far and wide in the pursuit of birds. Stuart lives in Lancashire with his young family.

Eleri Jenkins Bsc (Hons)

Field Ecologist

Eleri has always had a deep interest in nature having been brought up in the beautiful countryside of mid Wales.  After studying Wildlife Conservation at the University Of Plymouth she spent time in Nigeria carrying out biodiversity surveys and conducting behavioural studies of released primates. Whilst working at The Brecon Beacons National park Eleri developed a wide range of ecological skills, including upland bird surveys, NVC surveys, small mammal trapping, hedgerow surveys, and grass identification.Working alongside Natural Resources Wales and at The Centre for Alternative Technology has further strengthened Eleri’s skill set with experience in protected species surveys and the creation of site management plans.With a sound knowledge of flora and fauna, good surveying skills and a passion for all things related to wildlife  and ecology, Eleri has studied extensively,making her capable of undertaking a wide range of work in the ecological field.

Gareth Thomas BSc (Hons)

Ornithologist

Gareth graduated from Aberystwyth University in 1999 with a degree in Countryside Management. He has worked for the RSPB, Scottish Natural Heritage and Birdwatch Ireland. More recently he has worked for Aberystwyth University as a self-employed ornithologist.

His career has taken him to some diverse places, conducting bird surveys, advising on bird conservation and working on nature reserves. Gareth has worked on seabird surveys and Chough conservation on the Irish coast, managed a nature reserve in Shetland and has surveyed upland breeding raptors in Wales.

Closer to home, he has studied a wintering flock of Greenland White-fronted Geese on the Dyfi estuary, in Mid-Wales, for a number of years, and sits on a partnership group of interested parties concerned with this declining population. He is involved with the ongoing ECHOES project through Aberystwyth University, modelling the effects of climate change on this species.
